Constitution, FAQs and Budget
........ stronger together ........

Draft Constitution

The steering committee of the ILA has been working on a Draft Constitution and outline budget. This draft Constitution was sent out with the original ballot papers in February 2007. If the Ballot is succesful we will be able to hold a elections for a Management Committee as oultined in the Draft Constitution. The Management Committee will ratify or modify the Constitution for the Association so that it is properly established and eligible for legal recognition.

The draft constitution provides for
  • 1 vote per household for all leaseholders of Islington Council.
  • Elections every 2 years to select a managment committee.
  • A management Committee of 12 elected Directors.
  • 3 open meetings a year.
  • The right to speak at any meeting at the discretion of the Chair.

Ballot FAQs

The steering committee produced a set of FAQs (frequently asked questions) to help leaseholders decide whether they would endorse an Independent ILA funded by leaseholders.

Draft Budget

The steering committee has also agreed an outline budget. This is very much a first draft but we need to have some idea of what we can afford and what services we can reasonably provide. The Management Committee will obviously decide on a final budget once it knows what funds are available. The outline budget has been drawn up using a model suggested by the Islington Voluntary Action Council.

The outline budget provides for
  • 2 full time staff.
  • £80,000 a year for professional advice from surveyors and lawyers.
  • 3 editions a year of a leaseholders newsletter.
  • A proper office and resource centre.
